Sweden : Post-doc position in Sociology

Post-doc position in Sociology at the Department of Sociology. Reference number SU 619-1740-11. Deadline for applications: September 30, 2011.
The Department of Sociology at Stockholms University is one of the leading departments of sociology in Scandinavia. It has a strong international research profile, and the department is particularly strong in the fields of social stratification, demography, political sociology, social networks and ethnic relations. The department has a long tradition of using quantitative methods at a very high international level. The department has a long tradition of developing middle-range theorizing, and of bridging theory and empirical analyses. The department has about 85 employees, of whom eleven are professors.

Job description
While at the Stockholm University the post-doc is expected to do research aimed at publications in leading journals and/or with leading presses, to participate in the department´s seminars, and in other ways to contribute actively to the research environment at the department. All senior researchers at the department participate, to some extent, in teaching assignments.

Qualifications
The applicant should have a Phd degree in sociology not older than three years.

Terms of employment
Two-year post-doc position. Envisioned starting date is November 2011 (although this can be negotiated).
